At SGN, I initiated a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation to release a social network game that tied real-world altruism into the gameplay. We wanted to make a game where players could enjoy themselves and help foster actual, positive change.

The studio committed to donating up to $50,000 of the game's revenue — the equivalent of 50,000 trees — to the Arbor Day Foundation. The more people played, the more trees got planted. The game explicitly showed players the exact number of trees they had 'planted' as individuals, as a group of friends, and as an entire community: scores quantified as total trees planted.
